NEWS- Django Unchained Action Figures BANNED

The release of Tarantino's new film, Django Unchained sparked up much hype (As many of his films do) with film fans and of coarse the media. It was being promoted as one of his goriest and most shocking films yet!

Shortly after the release of the film Django Unchained action figures came onto the market. This was predictable as Tarantino has released action figures for most of his films, Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds etc.. The main purpose of them being for film geeks (Like myself) to collect. However it seems like Tarantino was not thinking entirely of the consequences or mixed opinions these action figures would have. They were shortly pulled shops and the internet.  Najee Ali (The Director of Project Islamic Hope) said that he feels that it trivializes the horrors of slavery and what African Americans experienced. Many other anti-racism and anti-slavery organizations also voiced there negative opinions on the figures. Which is fair enough as Tarantino's film treads close to the line as what is acceptable to be shown on film.. especially with such a sensitive subject as slavery.

However my personal opinion is that the "toys" should have been marketed as being collectables for people 18+ (The films certificate rating). This would have made it less of an issue with people saying that these figures were aimed at children which to be honest I think that any parent who even looked at the synopsis of Django Unchained would have just stuck with buying their kids Action Men.

The action figures were originally priced at $30 but after they were pulled from sales some of them have been estimated at being bought for up to $600 and if you want the whole set of six some people have been paying over $3000! I have found a list of supposed sellers on Amazon (Link Below!)  if anyone is interested in making such a large investment on one of these.

So what are your views on the action figures, do you think they were acceptable, do you think they were offensive and should have been pulled from sales? Comment and let me know what you think!
